About Us

Imran Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, has over two decades of international experience in the financial service industry. Imran has lived and worked in London, Singapore, Dubai, Karachi and Los Angeles.

Imran’s career with Citibank, Bank of America and Mashreqbank has seen him undertake roles in Corporate Finance, Investment Management, Treasury functions and Structured Trade Finance.

While at Mashreq, he was a regular speaker at various international industry conferences. Other than specialized financial skills, Imran has received formal training in the following areas:

  • Brand management
  • Mentoring skills
  • Hay’s human resource management
  • Media training

During Imran’s most recent assignment, he established the discretionary asset management business for Dubai based Mashreqbank, including a UCITS III compliant equity fund domiciled in Ireland. Mashreq Asset Management is the UAE’s first regulated fiduciary investment management business with the Middle East and North Africa’s equity markets at the heart of its business.

At Mashreqbank, Imran successfully transplanted global best practices in asset managment to the Gulf.

Before Mashreqbank, Imran was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Citigroup Asset Management in Singapore. The role merged a client facing and investment focused approach for Citigroup’s Asian franchise. The tailored discretionary accounts were generally benchmarked against blended MSCI World and appropriate fixed income benchmarks.

Imran successfully managed discretionary investment accounts with global investment objectives. The portfolio investments concentrated on North American, European, and Japanese equities, and combined them with Euro-dollar bonds to reduce risk for more conservative portfolios.

Prior to transferring to Citigroup Asset Management, Imran advised clients on financial restructuring and balance sheet optimizing efforts. Clients included both profitable concerns and a distressed business seeking to work its way back to financial health.

In 1991, while with Bank of America, Imran spearheaded the team which successfully launched the inaugural Islamic bond issue in Pakistan. The five year Sharia compliant listed ‘Term Finance Certificate’ (TFC) issued by the Packages Group created the template for the development of the Pakistani bond market. Today, Pakistan's TFC debt market is thriving and, generally, all contemporary TFC securities share the key characteristics designed by Imran’s pioneering issue.

Imran has also managed a fixed income portfolio management scheme employing segregated accounts targeting cash rich corporations. The scheme invested primarily in unlisted short term corporate paper. The scheme may be characterized as 'Money Market Plus' investment accounts.

Imran received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College, Los Angeles, in 1988, majoring in Diplomacy and World Affairs with a Minor in Philosophy. Imran is an active trader on the US capital markets, utilizing long, short and options strategies to translate his investment views into trades.
